hobbies...

I have been up all night because I couldn't sleep, i think i took too long of a nap today.. that's the life when you don't have a job. As i surf the internet I realized how many hobbies I have. I must be the easiest person to shop for at Christmas and on birthdays.
Let's see:
* Rodeo
Grew up rodeoing, one day i'll be good again. Kind of a has-been these days but i still screw around in the yard roping the dummy. Still have to feed and work the horses out every day.

*Cycling
Bueno. It rocks. I have my fixie that i'm eternally working on among others. Also have Stan, my Specialized Allez Triple. amazing. The best part of cycling is the people. Only in this sport can you spend the weekend on the road or on the mountain camping and having the best, most random time of your life.
*Bugs
I'm an entomologist. Random, wierd, and kinda lame? I'll kick your ass if you say that again. I love my bugs. They're everywhere and you can never escape them,so I win. I collect bugs, kill them, then post them up on little pins for all to see. It's kind of mean but i like it. And bugs are dumb, they'll never catch on.
*Guitar
I'm not good but I try real hard. Isn't that all that matters? you should hear me when i'm drunk. I rock.
*School
I'm considering this a hobby considering the amount of time i spend perfecting it. I'm a senior at Texas A&M. My school's better than yours, na-na-nan-na-boo-boo. Yes, i just did that. Whoop!
*Music
I listen to music all the time. I drive a bus for A&M and blare whatever the hell i want on the speakers. I get funny looks when I play cassette tape copies of Billy Ray Cyrus or select showtunes, but who cares. I love all music and it's expressions. I saay that, but truely, i'm prone to listen to quirky stuff, Dustin Kensrue and Ryan Adams have my heart. Look them up.
*Saving the world
I will do it. Don't question me, just do your part too and it won't be such a big issue.
* Fighting Aliens
Weekly, I do funny dances in the yard with a tinfoil hat on to hopefully let the aliens know they are not needed down here. Also, I never go to Aurora.
* Community Service
My best friend is Emily. She's not all there. I hang out with her regularly.

Just call me alexander...

My favorite book/movie ever is Into the Wild written about Christopher McCandless a.k.a. Alexander Supertramp. For those who have never read it, the book is about a young man that, after graduating college, leaves home unannounced to travel the country without any money to his name. He ultimately decides that he wants to go to Alaska. The story ends tragically with Alex dying after eating a poisionous plant. One of the that last things he writes is, "Happiness is best shared with others." After running away from civilization, he gets so far away from everything that he can never go back.

That's what I want this blog to be about. Not about solitude, but about my adventures with the best friends I could ever ask for. Every so often I get itchy feet and feel the need to escape where I'm at. My friends are always there to pick me up or pack their things and go with me.
